It is mandatory for the candidates seeking admission to the School of Legal Studies, UPES through the ULSAT test, CLAT test, LSAT India, or the merit in Class 12th to appear for the counselling session as per the call letter. The counselling process includes the following stages:

1. Group Discussion (GD): The selected candidates attend the GD sessions wherein the students are divided into groups of 6-8 persons and a topic is given to them. Debate is a speech in which candidates have a specified stand regarding the topic of discussion or an opposite stand concerning the same topic, and the jury’s assessment is based on the stand a candidate holds.

2. Personal Interview (PI): After the GD, the candidates move to the next round which is the PI round where the candidates are assessed on their knowledge of the law course and other related issues.

3. Document Verification: Document verification is conducted at the same time as the main study known as the PI. Here the concerned examination authority cross-checks all documents produced by the candidate.
