October 14, 2024: UGC NET 2024 final answer key is out now. October 14, 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the UGC NET 2024 Admit Card for the June session for the exam scheduled on August 27. October 13, 2024: Admit cards for exams on August 21, 22, and 23 were released earlier, with more to be issued for other dates soon. October 12, 2024: The UGC NET June 2024 exam on August 21 (Shift 2) at Dr Ghanshyam Singh College of Education, Varanasi, was cancelled due to technical issues and will be rescheduled. October 10, 2024: The ongoing UGC NET 2024 June session re-exam started on August 21 and will conclude on September 4, 2024, in two shifts. October 08, 2024: The August 26 UGC NET 2024 exam is now scheduled for August 27, while other exam dates remain unchanged. |
The NTA has declared the UGC NET 2024 Admit Card for the June session including the examination on August 27. Earlier, admit cards for exams conducted on 21/8, 22/8 & 23/8 have been provided. The admit card of the candidates can be downloaded through their application number and date of birth. However, it is noteworthy that the exam of UGC NET 2024 was conducted on August 21, 2024.
The second shift of this exam was cancelled because of some technical problems and will be conducted later. The re-exams will be conducted for two more cycles from 8:00 am to 10:30 am and 11:00 am to 1:30 pm until September 4, 2024. Some of the changes are that an exam that was originally supposed to be held on August 26 has been rescheduled for August 27 while other dates remain fixed. The UGC NET June examination was organised for 83 subjects on June 18, 2024 however, the examination that was scheduled for June 19 was cancelled because of integrity breaks.

What is UGC NET?
The UGC NET also called NTA UGC NET is a National Eligibility Test conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility of candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowship and assistant professor or assistant professor only in Indian Universities and Colleges. The UGC NET 2024 exam will be conducted for 83 subjects and each of these subjects have their own syllabus which will be set by the University Grants Commission. Before, until June 2018 the NET exam was provided by the CBSE on behalf of the UGC for the candidates who sought to join the university teaching profession. Presently, the exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency or NTA as it is popularly known.
UGC NET Posts
Candidates who qualify for the NET JRF and Assistant Professorship through UGC NET 2024 can pursue a career as either an Assistant Professor or a Research Scholar.
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF):
Candidates who qualify for JRF can apply for both Assistant Professor and Research Scholar positions.
Research Scholars receive a stipend of ₹35,000 for the first two years and ₹42,000 from the third year onward to support their research in a specific field.
JRF qualifiers can pursue a career as an Assistant Professor in various universities while also working as a Research Scholar.
Assistant Professors:
Candidates qualifying for the Assistant Professorship eligibility exam can apply for teaching positions in universities and colleges.
Candidates can also pursue a PhD, but they will not receive any government stipend for completing their PhD if they qualify only for the Assistant Professorship.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria
UGC NET Age Limit 2024:
Candidates must be 30 years old or younger to be eligible for NTA NET JRF.
There is no age limit for applying for the post of Assistant Professor.
Reserved category candidates receive a five-year age relaxation.
UGC NET Educational Qualification 2024:
Candidates must have completed a four-year undergraduate course or be in the final year of their UG program.
A completed post-graduation from a UGC-recognized college or university is required.
Reserved category candidates receive a five per cent relaxation in educational qualifications.
Candidates who cleared the State Eligibility Test (SET) before June 1, 2002, are exempt from taking the UGC NET exam.
UGC NET 2024 EWS Certificate:
Candidates who qualify for the exam under the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category will receive a UGC NET EWS certificate.
EWS candidates are entitled to a 10 per cent reservation in the recruitment exam.
While EWS candidates do not need to upload the certificate during the application process, they must present it to the recruitment committee during the selection process.
