The TOEFL iBT is a well-known English test run by ETS. Many universities in the USA, Canada, and other countries accept it. The test checks four main skills: reading, listening, speaking, and writing, all in a university setting. Candidates can take the TOEFL iBT at a test centre or from home with the TOEFL Home Edition, whichever is more accessible. Top colleges worldwide accept the TOEFL iBT, giving candidates a chance to study abroad.

To take the TOEFL iBT, candidates need a valid passport for ID. The test is open to people of all ages and educational backgrounds who must show their English skills for school.

Many famous schools accept TOEFL iBT scores. Some top schools are Harvard University in the USA, the University of Toronto in Canada, the University of Oxford in the UK, the National University of Singapore, and the University of Sydney in Australia. These schools offer many courses, high academic standards, and excellent teachers.

The TOEFL iBT is available many times a year, so candidates can choose a date that works best for them. Here is a general timeline for applying. Candidates can register for the TOEFL iBT up to four months before the test. Registering early to get a preferred test date and location is a good idea. The test is available all year. Candidates should pick a date that gives them enough time to study. Scores are usually available online six days after the test. Candidates can send their scores to the schools they choose directly through the TOEFL Official Website.

What is the TOEFL Exam?

The ETS TOEFL Exam is planned for students who intend to continue their studies in countries where English is spoken, and it evaluates their reading, listening, speaking, and writing skills. Conventionally administered to those students who intend to pursue further studies in foreign universities, this test also grants individuals access to scholarships and immigration to various countries for employment.

In the computer-delivered TOEFL iBT format for which intending candidates must register for the TOEFL test, the fee is ₹16,900 INR for both TOEFL iBT and the TOEFL iBT Home Edition. Oddly enough, the paper-based TOEFL test is no longer available to Indian candidates.

What is TOEFL iBT?

The TOEFL Internet-Based Test, commonly known as TOEFL iBT, is the computerised version of TOEFL for applicants who prefer online test mode. Being easy with the least utilisation of resources and freely available online, most test-takers opt for the TOEFL iBT. Proper TOEFL iBT test centres are set nationwide to conduct these tests in major cities. Having covered more than 98% of the TOEFL tests worldwide, the TOEFL iBT has increasingly become the most popular assessment method.

What is the TOEFL Test on Paper?

PBT is no longer available however, in some countries, ETS has returned to offering the TOEFL iBT Test on Paper. This form of the TOEFL examination also measures the four abilities but is taken with pen and paper and spread across two different occasions. Reading, Listening and Writing sections are taken on paper at a test centre.

The Speaking section is taken from home on a computer supervised by a proctor via the Internet within three days after the paper-based tests. One of the paper-based TOEFL options is offered in some countries wherein India is available. Since the Speaking section is online, the takers must have the appropriate atmosphere and gear before enrolling for the ETS TOEFL test.
