The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) helps students apply to MBA and MCA programs in colleges across Tamil Nadu. The exam checks if candidates are suitable for these postgraduate courses and meet the academic standards needed by the colleges.
To qualify for TANCET 2025, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria set by Anna University. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories). Candidates should have studied Mathematics in their undergraduate studies or 10+2 for MCA programs. Meeting these academic requirements is essential for candidates to be considered for MBA and MCA courses in various colleges in Tamil Nadu.
Several well-known colleges in Tamil Nadu accept TANCET scores for MBA and MCA admissions. These include Anna University in Chennai, known for its good academics and research facilities, PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore, known for its engineering and management programs and Thiagarajar School of Management in Madurai, known for its complete approach to business education. Other notable colleges include Loyola Institute of Technology in Chennai, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Thiagarajar College of Engineering in Madurai, and Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai.
The application process for TANCET 2025 started in March, and the exam was held in April. Candidates can apply online until April 15 through the official website, tancet.annauniv.edu. After the exam on April 20, Anna University made the scorecards available for download until May 3. This schedule gives students enough time to complete their applications and check their results, making the admission process smooth and clear.

What is TANCET?
TANCET is formally called the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test, and it is an examination that is conducted annually to help students obtain admission into various postgraduate programs across the colleges in Tamil Nadu. It is a state-level entrance exam administered by Anna University, which offers postgraduate programmes like MTech, MArch, MPlan, ME, MBA and MCA. In Tamil Nadu, around 200 colleges accept TANCET scores for admission.
Every year, TANCET witnesses a crowd of over 40,000 MBA aspirants aspiring to grab the only 15000 available seats in various institutes of Tamil Nadu. A candidate will be allotted exactly 2 hours to write TANCET, which will be comprised of a total of 100 multiple-choice questions, and the exam is in pen-and-paper. TANCET counselling for MBA admissions for eligible candidates is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Chennai.
