It assesses candidates' written, verbal, and mathematical skills. Initially a pencil-paper test, the SAT transitioned to a digital format last year, now known as the SAT Digital Exam, which is widely conducted across Indian states.
The exam lasts about two hours and fourteen minutes and is divided into two sections: Reading plus Writing and Mathematics. Previously, Reading and Writing were separate sections, but they are now combined and scored together. There is no negative marking for wrong or unattempted questions. Despite many universities becoming test-optional for SAT scores during and after COVID, some still require SAT or ACT scores. While many US universities no longer accept SAT scores, universities in other countries still do.

What is the SAT Exam?
SAT is a standardized entrance examination meant to determine the graduates’ readiness for foreign credit programs. The students applying to universities across the globe- especially the USA, Canada, UK, Italy and many other countries are required to produce SAT scores for undergraduate programs. This is an online MCQ-based final examination for Indian students. It comprises two main sections: Reading & Writing and Math, both with MCQs, each section is out of 800, so the scale totals 1600. A date to sit for the SAT examination has to be booked in advance and the student has to choose his or her own center.
When recruiting students to its institution, the college tends to consider high school students’ results on the SAT in addition to their records and supportive documentation. The relevance of SAT scores differs from college to college so students who wish to secure a college where SAT scores are important should compare the previous year’s cut-off scores.
