Understanding the NEET UG Result Process

The re-revised NEET 2024 scorecard and the merit list became available on July 26, 2024, through the National Testing Agency. This revision came after one of the Supreme Court decisions that culminated in the cancellation of bonus marks for a contentious Physics question. Those who chose option 4 for this question were awarded 4 marks while the rest were docked a mark for options 5, 6 and 7, and no mark for options 1 and 2 which they did not attempt as there were no check marks to indicate their comprehension. Those candidates, who did not try to solve the question, got no marks and no penalties.

As a result of the bonus marks, 44 candidates got full marks of 720/100. This change was an overall effect on the ranking list which consequently lowered the toppers from 55 to 17 in the list. As per the latest NEET exam merit list, 13,15,853 of the 23,33,162 students who took the test qualified for the NEET 2024. Also, NTA recorded 135 means of unfair practices (UFM) of which the candidates involved were disqualified therefore reducing the number of people who wrote the test from 23,33,297 to 23,33,162 people.

Besides, NTA also released the final answer keys of all the questions of NEET 2024 on the same day and declared that the correct answer to the discussed Physics question is Option 4 only, whereas earlier both Options 2 and 4 were approved as correct answers. The cut-off marks for NEET 2024 were adjusted with a two-mark deduction for each category.

According to the schedule set by the Supreme Court and as per the order dated 18-07-2021, the varsity on 20-07-2021, announced NEET 2024 city-wise and centre-wise results. This data comprised the number of candidates appearing at each of the 4,750 centres across 557 Indian cities and 14 foreign cities, aggregate data, except for the candidate's central cadre database which contained personal data redacted under the court’s order.

The NEET 2024 Result of the re-exam was declared on July 1, 2024, a day later than originally planned. This candidate was allowed to take this re-exam on 23/06/2024 and 1653 were involved in the exam the original CIVILS exam held on 05/05/2024 where some candidates sat for grace marks. By flood-spectrum re-examination, the Ministry of Education cordially eliminated the toppers from 67, then 61 and finally to 17. First, sixty-seven candidates were said to be toppers, out of which only six students got full marks through the grace marks. Five of these candidates came out to take this test again after the removal of grace marks and the retest, but none scored more than 680 marks as the four students above scored more than 720 marks. Further, out of the candidates who scored 720 marks, 44 students had been given bonus marks.

NTA re-released scorecards for all students, among them 1,563 students who sat for the NEET 2024 re-test. These scorecards are all the scores that originated from the retest exercise; those who never sat for the retest had their previous scores with the grace marks included. • Visit the Official NEET 2025 Website: To check the NEET Results, visit the official NEET Website or go directly to the  NEET Revised link that says, ‘Click Here for Revised Scorecard. ‘
• Enter Required Details: Enter your 10+2 Application Number for NEET 2025, date of Birth, and Security PIN. OR use your registered email ID or Mobile number.
• Submit the Information: On the screen, you can see the “Submit” button. Once you click the button, the result of your performance will be displayed on the ‘scorecard’.

The NEET 2024 scorecard is an essential file in the admission process and is a legitimate one. It contains specific information about the candidate and his performance and must be retained until the admission procedure ends. To download the scorecard:

• Enter your login credentials.
• Save a copy of the scorecard you have just downloaded on your device for future use.
• Photocopy a number of them to be used in counselling and admission procedures.

Details Printed on the NEET 2025 Scorecard

The NEET 2025 scorecard includes basic information about the candidate and the result of the test. The following information is printed on the scorecard:

• Candidate's Name: This is the full name as registered.
• Candidate’s Roll Number: A number issued and different for the exam.
• Category: The code by which the candidate appeared for NEET.
• Application Number: A reference number used during the application process in the acquisition of the degree.
• Overall Score: Total scores of the candidate who has appeared for the examination.
• Subject-wise Scores: Performance in the specific study areas; Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
• Percentile Score: The percentile rank computed with the result of the candidate about other candidates taking the test.
• All India Rank (AIR): Out of all the candidates who appeared for the exam, then their rank.

• Qualifying Status: Identifies whether the candidate has passed to the next processes, for instance, if the position is a two-round interview then it will show whether the candidate has proceeded to round two or not.
• NEET AIR for 15% AIQ Seats: The rank which is used for the seats under the All India Quota (AIQ).
• NEET Cutoff Score: The pass mark is the minimum score that candidates in various categories need to attain.

The percentile score in NEET is a measure used to compare a candidate's performance relative to other candidates. It is calculated using the formula:

Due to the relatively high admission quota of NEET, it is perfectly natural for students to obtain the same score as their peers. To provide equal chances of being selected for all the candidates the NTA has developed a process of breaking the tie. The criteria are applied in the following order:

1. Higher Marks in Biology: Candidates with higher scores where the subject is Biology are ranked higher.
2. Higher Marks in Chemistry: When the tie exists, it is broken by taking into consideration the performers’ scores in the Chemistry subject.
3. Higher Marks in Physics: Additional bonds are concluded according to the Physics performance.
4. The proportion of Correct and Incorrect Answers: A lower value is preferred for the ratio of incorrectly answered questions to the number of correct questions.
5. Application Number in Ascending Order: The last criterion involves the use of the application number as a way of sorting any of the remains that are tied in view.

The NEET 2024 merit list is an official document considering candidates’ suitability due to limited qualifications for medical courses. The NTA releases multiple merit lists based on different criteria:

NEET 2024 Result and Merit List

The National Testing Agency (NTA) prepares the merit list position of the candidates about their NEET scores. There are various merit lists depending on the category of the candidates that one belongs to. More so, there is an overall merit list of all candidates who passed the NEET exam that is made depending on the exams’ results.
