IELTS Centre

IELTS is commonly selected by those who hope to improve their academic performance, work, or get the status of a foreign immigrant in an Anglophone state. Currently, IELTS is the only test that is conducted and managed by IDP. IELTS takers can also register for the test through the Weblink or the IELTS office near them. In registration, a candidate has to choose the IELTS centre and the date for the examination before going for the slot booking. The IELTS test is managed by IDP, which currently has many test centres in 75 cities in India, so it would be convenient for a candidate.

Cancellation or Rescheduling of the IELTS Exam

Rescheduling Your IELTS Exam

  • Any candidate who wants to alter the test date or postpone must apply for a test day transfer five weeks before the set test date.

  • This new test date must be within three months of the initial date.

  • The service attracts an administrative charge of INR 3,300, which includes all the taxes.

IELTS Cancellation

  • More than Five Weeks Before the Test Date: If the cancellation is made, the client will receive a refund, but for that, the organiser will retain 25% as an administration fee.

  • Less than Five Weeks Before the Test Date: No refund will be made to the distributor under this strategy.

  • Failure to Appear: There will be no refund for any service deemed a cancellation.

  • Medical Exceptions: Issuing a medical certificate five days from the test date will warrant the candidate a refund of the amount paid, less the local administrative fees.

IELTS on Computer vs IELTS on Paper (CBT vs PBT)

The IELTS exam offers two formats: IELTS delivered through a computer and IELTS delivered by paper. For those who prefer computerised tests, known as CBT, it is offered three times a day, seven days a week. Unfortunately, the content, structure, and format used in the computer-based IELTS are the same as in the paper-based one.

However, if candidates wish to type, it is possible to take the Reading, Writing and Listening modules on a computer, whereas, for the Speaking, the candidate has to speak to an IELTS examiner. The main benefit of taking the Computer-based IELTS is that results are often released within 72 hours or the next five days at the furthest.

On the other hand, candidates opting for the paper modality complete the Reading, Writing and Listening modules on paper using either an HB pencil or ball pen. The IELTS Speaking test is one-on-one with a qualified IELTS test taker. Also known as the ‘oral interview’, the Speaking test is taken face to face with an IELTS examiner.

For the paper-based IELTS, the results are usually released 13 days after the date on which the test was taken. Earlier, people could schedule their appointments through British Council IELTS registration, however, the registration process has been shifted to IDP.
