The Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) is a management entrance examination for admission into MBA or Master in Finance programs in top B-schools globally. The examination is conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) in nearly 100 countries all over the world. GMAC claims that 9 out of the 10 new enrollments in B-schools globally are sourced upon GMAT scores. The GMAT exam is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode around the year with flexible dates, reducing the examination formality. The test comprises three sections- Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and Data Insights to assess candidates’ quantitative, verbal, and data interpretation skills.
To be eligible for GMAT Exam, interested candidates should have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum aggregate of 50% in any stream from a recognised university/college or should be in the final year of their undergraduate degree. They should have a valid passport at the time of the GMAT exam. The GMAT exam fee in India is USD 275 for the centre exam and USD 300 for the online exam.
Some of the prominent universities worldwide accepting GMAT scores are the University of Manchester, the University of Leeds, Yale University, Princeton University, Boston University, Imperial College of London, and the University of Birmingham among others.
Starting from the beginning of July 1, 2024, GMAT will be substituted with GMAT Focus Edition. The latest version is offered by GMAC starting from July 2024. Just like GMAT, the GMAT focus edition’s scores will also be valid for five years. The GMAT focus edition’s dates for the month of June have been announced on the official website www.gmac.com. GMAT exam dates 2024 are available throughout the year and interested candidates can register and apply for the exams at their convenience. Candidates can register six months before their preferred exam dates.

What is GMAT 2024?
The role of the GMAT entrance examination is to analyse the potential candidates’ analytical capabilities through the quantitative and verbal reasoning sections. Even though MBA enrollment is often associated with this exam, students do not need to specifically prepare for management questions. However, the GMAT exam is best suited to assess the basic mathematical skills and capabilities in verbal that each business school entrant should have. Thus, the exam does not raise issues for students who do not have any relation to management. The examination is mainly focused on logical reasoning, and it has an accessible structure for a large number of students.
What is GMAT Focus Edition?
The GMAT assessment has also released the GMAT Focus Edition, which allows higher-order critical reasoning and data literacy skills to be met by the charter spectrum of today’s business environment. The GMAT focus edition was released in June 2023 and later released with the GMAT focus edition official preparation of the entrance into the market. The GMAT focus has now been compromised for the old GMAT test as the test is available until the first day on February 1, 2024. However, the registration and application shall be considered to use and enter the GMAT focus from February 1, 2024. The current GMAT form will remain solid and accessible to this period, and therefore, the current applicants who have prepared it well are not affected. The only thing to note is the activation of the GMAT focus as of now.
GMAT Exam Dates 2024
The GMAT exam date 2024 is not fixed, and the exam can be taken throughout the year, any GMAT candidates can fix their day from any date for their examination based on the available slots. For the GMAT retake, the candidate should retake only after 16 calendar days. In a year, the candidate should allow for five attempts within 12 months and a total of 8 attempts across life. The candidate should apply for the GMAT exam date between two to three months before the exam's starting date. After that, the candidate could apply online or by phone on the registration date before 24 hours, but they should apply earlier for preparation. The coaching class is recommended to apply only before the exam finishes, but applicants pre-apply to get enough time to prepare.
GMAT Eligibility 2024
GMAC, the organization behind GMAT, does not specify specific eligibility criteria for taking the exam. However, candidates should ensure they meet the eligibility requirements set by the university or college they plan to apply to after completing the GMAT 2024 or GMAT 2025.
Age Criteria for the GMAT Exam
Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
There is no upper age limit.
For candidates aged 13 to 17, written permission (NOC) from parents or legal guardians is required.
Educational Qualifications for the GMAT Exam
GMAC has not issued any official statement regarding educational qualifications for GMAT exam eligibility.
Candidates aiming for MBA programs typically need a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in any discipline.
Work Experience Requirement for the GMAT Exam
GMAT does not impose any work experience prerequisites. It primarily evaluates academic abilities and skills relevant to graduate management education.
However, certain MBA programs may require applicants to have a specific amount of work experience.
GMAT 2024 Registration
GMAT is a management entrance exam that is conducted all year, and the candidate can book their exam on their availability and time frame. This article will explain the entire GMAT registration process in a step-by-step manner. Choosing the test center without verifying the date may cause a miss in booking the slot. We can apply for the GMAT application anytime between 6 months minimum to 24 hours in advance of the exam. However, just like a hasty passport, everything is not possible for GMAT at the last minute. Hence, it is recommended that applicants complete GMAT Exam Registration 2024 at least 3 months prior to the scheduled test.
GMAT Registration Fee 2024
The GMAT registration fee amounts to US $275 (approximately Rs. 23,000) in India for the GMAT exam conducted at a test center, while it is US $300 (approximately Rs. 25,010) for the online GMAT exam. Candidates who wish to reschedule or cancel their GMAT exam will incur a fee for these changes.
GMAT Rescheduling Fees
A fee is charged to reschedule their GMAT test if candidates wish to reschedule their GMAT exam even after completing the registration process. The test center exam assesses the rescheduling that has happened 61 days before the test date and the one who reschedules the exam will pay 55 dollars. The professional registrant who has rescheduled the test between 15 to 60 days before the appointment will pay 110 for the test centre exam. One who wants to reschedule their test between 1 to 14 days before the test date will pay USD 165 for the test centre exam fees.

GMAT Exam Cancellation Fee
If a student wants to cancel the GMAT exam after they have applied to take it, then they can do so, but will only be issued with a partial refund depending on when they cancel it about the examination date. Cancellation of the GMAT exam more than 60 days from the examination appointment day will result in a refund of $110 for a test centre GMAT exam and $120 if the student had applied to do an online GMAT exam at home. If a student cancels the GMAT exam between 15 to 60 days before the GMAT examination date, then they will be refunded $80 for a test-centre GMAT exam and $90 if they had applied to take the GMAT exam online in their homes. Cancellation of the GMAT exam between 1 to 14 days from the GMAT examination date will result in a refund of $55 for the test centre GMAT exam and $60 if the test was to be proctored to the student’s home for the online GMAT exam.
