CUET Result 2024: Marks VS Percentile
The CUET exam result assesses candidates' performance using two main indicators: It uses the marks of CUET and CUET percentile. The abbreviations CUET marks refer to the overall score a candidate could get depending on the CUET marking system. On the other hand, the CUET percentile defines the position of the particular candidate as compared to other candidates in the same or, in some cases, different CUET sessions. All the colleges that participate in CUET admissions utilize percentile or normalized scores as a basis.
How is the Percentile Rank of CUET Established?
NTA calculates the CUET percentile using the following formula after applying normalisation:
Percentile = 100 * [(number of candidates with equal or lower raw score)] / [number of candidates]
For example; 1000 students were taken through a session and out of them 100 scored a raw score less than or equal to your score, then a percentile of 10% would be assigned to you.
Percentile can be defined as the position of the candidate in the ranking of the fellow examinees who appeared for CUET UG Exam. It is more useful than raw scores because it factors in the level of difficulty of the examination and the scores of other students.

CUET Result 2024: Normalisation Process
The normalization process applied to CUET makes the evaluation fair with an equal impact on the course’s difficulty level in subsequent sessions. It is widely used in state and national-level entrance tests taken by students aspiring to gain CUET admission to the undergraduate levels. Aspirants who are going to attempt CUET UG 2024 in different shifts are ranked relatively.
In the process of normalization of CUET UG scores a little lower score might be obtained from the easier sessions and a few higher scores from the hard session, all dependent on the over-average scores of the whole session. This means that normalization adjustments should not be very much different in terms of a session average if overall differences are not very significant. There is accurate scoring of the percentile scores up to the last seven decimal points to avoid challenges such as clustering.
