TMI, Pune, admitted students to its 4-year B. Tech in Marine Engineering. The initial stage of the B. Tech candidates’ selection is based on the TMISAT, which contains 80 questions and is divided into four subtests, one of which focuses on behaviour.

B.Tech Marine Engineering -Eligibility

• For admission in Tolani Maritime Institute, candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination with an aggregate of 60% marks in PCM subjects and at least 50% marks in English in class X or class XII.

• The admit card can be downloaded only if the candidate has a valid IMU-CET rank.

B.Tech Marine Engineering -Selection Criteria

• TMISAT: The test is delivered through an online format and comprises 80 questions in four sections with the possibility of a behavioural assessment of the candidates.

• Medical Test: This test is performed only by examiners who passed the test conducted by DGS, which evaluates applicants for sea service.

• Personal Interview: In a panel interview, the candidates are assessed on whether they are fit to become sailors.

• The selected list is based on the PCM of 10+2 examination, IMU CET rank, TMISAT, personal interview and medical fitness examination.

Lateral Entry B. Tech 

Lateral Entry Option: TMI has a provision for direct admission in the second year of the B. Tech. The Marine Engineering programme is open to IMU students who meet the admission requirements and on space available at TMI.

In addition, applicants must be unmarried and must be below the age of 24 years. Candidates must have passed one of the following:

• Minimum 55% aggregate in 3-year Engineering Diploma in Marine, Mechanical, Electrical or Electrical & Electronics.

• Shipbuilding Engineering 4-year Diploma with minimum 55% aggregate marks.Also from the Alternate Training Scheme, completing the 1st year of training.

• 1st-year students from an Engineering College in the Mechanical or Electrical stream with a 60% or above cumulative percentage.

• 3-year Diploma course in specific categories with at least 55% aggregate marks in the final year, such as Mechanical Engineering Stream: Automobile, machine tools and maintenance, plant engineering, production technology and engineering, or an advanced diploma in tool and die making.

TMI Electrical Engineering Stream Admission

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Stream: Digital Electronics, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Industrial Electronics, Electronics Engineering, Electronics Manufacturing and Repairs, Instrumentation Engineering or Instrumentation and Control Engineering.  

Additional Requirements

• Having secured at least 50% marks in English either in the Standard X or Standard XII or any Degree/Diploma Course.

• The diploma must also be completed in the 3 or 4 years duration that is assigned to it in the design of the curriculum.

TMI B.Sc Nautical Science Admission 2025

TMI Pune provides a 3-year full-term B. Sc Nautical Science course which includes a one-year sea service. On the completion of this course and passing a Second Mate’s Examination, the students have received the authority to apply for the post of Third Officer in the Indian or international Shipping Merchant Navies.

Eligibility

• Applicants are required to pass in HSC examination from a recognized board.

• He/She has to secure at least 60% marks in PCM subjects of Class XII and 50% marks in English in either Class X or Class XII.

• One must have qualified for the IMU CET entrance test in order to pursue the course.

• The test report of eyesight must be valid in accordance with the standard of distance vision, a better eye, and another eye.

• A valid passport is compulsory for the availability of the candidate.

Selection Criteria

The final admission is done as per candidates’ 10+2 PCM marks, IMU-CET rank, TMISAT scores, medical fitness test, and personal interview. The candidates aspiring to get into the B.Tech degree programmes are to write the TMISAT an online test of 120 minutes duration (main test for 90 minutes and a behavioural assessment test of 30 minutes) for the IMU CET qualified candidates only.

Medical tests on the candidates are performed by examiners who have been accredited by the DGS to do so at the institute. Candidates undergo interviews from TMI panellists, which may comprise faculty and independent specialists, based on practical data and TMISAT merit and provided application data about the candidate to judge the candidate’s aptitude for a seafaring occupation.

HND Admission 2025-Eligibility

• A candidate should have completed his/ her 10+2 examination in Physics, Mathematics and any one of the mandatory subjects namely Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject and obtained at least 50 per cent marks in PCM together.

• Otherwise, the candidates can possess a Diploma in Mechanical, Electronics or Electrical fields of study.

• Candidates having a B. Sc degree from a recognized university in an appropriate discipline like Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics will also be considered.
