CAT Result 2024-25: Check IIM CAT Score & Percentile @iimcat.ac.in
IIM Calcutta has published the CAT results for 2024-25. The CAT 2024-25 result and scorecard have been uploaded to the CAT official website, and the login access has also been activated. IIM Calcutta is also scheduled to reveal the CAT 2024 toppers' data. 14 candidates have received 100 percentile, with one being a female candidate. 29 candidates got 99.99 percentile, with two of them being female, and 30 candidates achieved 99.98 percentile, with one being female.
The CAT 2024 examination was held on November 24, 2024. It was conducted in three shifts at over 385 examination centers across India. IIM Calcutta issued the provisional CAT 2024-25 answer key on December 3 and the final CAT 2024 answer key on December 16, 2024. Approximately 405 objections were submitted against the official CAT answer key 2024-25, however, none were regarded as legitimate.
CAT 2024-25 Result
The CAT 2024-25 results are expected to be announced by the third week of December 2024-25, approximately four weeks after the November 24 exam 2024. The scorecards will include details such as candidates' names, registration numbers, categories, photos, sectional scores, overall scores, and overall percentiles. Candidates can download their CAT scorecards from the IIMCAT website using their login credentials. Over 2 lakh candidates appear each year for CAT, with a limited number achieving top percentiles. In CAT 2023, out of 2.88 lakh test takers, 14 candidates scored 100 percentile, and 29 candidates scored 99.99 percentile, all male except for one female candidate who achieved 99.99 percentile.

How is the CAT Percentile Calculated?
The CAT percentile represents a candidate's performance relative to other test-takers. The process begins with calculating each candidate’s raw scores based on the marking scheme—three marks for each correct answer and a one-mark deduction for each incorrect answer (no negative marking for non-MCQs). The steps to calculate the percentile are as follows:
- Scoring: Each candidate’s total score is calculated by adding +3 for every correct answer and deducting -1 for each incorrect one.
- Normalization: The raw scores are normalized to account for variations in difficulty levels across different test sessions.
Percentile Conversion: The normalized scores are then converted to percentiles, which are displayed on the scorecard.
Understanding the CAT Normalization Process
Since the CAT exam is held in multiple sessions, with each session presenting a unique set of questions, there can be slight variations in difficulty. To ensure fairness, CAT authorities apply a normalization process, which adjusts scores across sessions to ensure an equal playing field. The normalization process takes into account the following factors:

What Happens After the CAT 2024 Results Are Announced?
Once the CAT 2024 results are declared, the IIMs will initiate the shortlisting process for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. Each IIM will establish its own minimum cutoff percentile. Candidates who meet the required cutoffs must complete an online application form for their selected IIMs, specifying their choice of programs. Shortlisted candidates will then be invited for WAT/PI rounds.
The selection process for the 2025–2027 MBA/PGP batch consists of:
- Screening based on CAT score and academic record.
- WAT/PI rounds.
- Final selection based on multiple parameters including CAT score, academic performance, work experience, and diversity factors.
While top IIMs conduct separate admission processes, the newer IIMs use a Common Admission Process (CAP) to streamline admissions.
